their third album, Matter Does Not Define – now set for a NEW RELEASE DATE on Fri 28 February 2025
The Lathums have signed their name across a new beer from music-orientated East London craft brewery, Signature Brew, just as anticipation fizzes over for the release of their third album, Matter Does Not Define – now set for a NEW RELEASE DATE on Fri 28 February 2025. Working closely with master brewers at the helm of the Walthamstow production line, their new beer, Stellar Cask, takes cues from the band’s intoxicating 2024 single, Stellar Cast., infusing spicy ginger into their limited-edition collaboration lager.
As part of the tie-up with the twice Society of Independent Brewers Brewery Of The Year Award-winning brewery, which has previously collaborated with artists including The Libertines, Idles, Sports Team and many more, The Lathums will perform for a super-limited capacity audience, in partnership with Rough Trade, at Signature Brew’s venue space on Thu 6 March 2025. Just 200 tickets are on sale to fans via links hosted at https://TheLathums.lnk.to/SignatureBrewPartyPR/euoqt
Creating a lager together that is inspired by singer and lyricist, Alex Moore’s own vocal cord care routines, Stellar Cask pours from the barrel as a small batch, gluten-free hopped rice lager, with added ginger. A well-known preventative and cure remedy for singers in the studio and on the road, the addition of the root spice gave seldom-drinking Moore a way to contribute personally.
He says: “We’re very excited to be teaming up with Signature Brew ahead of the release of Matter Does Not Define and the tour. Most of our fans know I’m not much of a drinker, especially not before a gig. I’m more of a honey-and-ginger tea kind of guy. Our fans, and the lads, however, love a good pint, so we wanted to make something special for the occasion. That’s how Stellar Cask was born, with a hint of ginger, a proper vocal remedy. So even I love the taste of it!”
Stellar Cast, an instant favourite with fans, was released alongside the deeply personal epic, Long Shadows and the summer 2024 release of the punky No Direction, to whet the appetite of fans looking forward to a third album from a band that’s scored two, chart-topping albums since their emergence in 2019. Lifted by their vast family of fans, the road to Matter Does Not Define’s release was further illuminated by the release of the upbeat, firecracker single, Heartbreaker, last month.
Arriving at Signature Brew during a busy promotional period for the band, as they meet fans in-person at a new run of recently-announced, intimate shows, the road stretches out further ahead of the band as their 14 Matter Does Not Define UK & Ireland Tour dates get underway at one of two, SOLD OUT shows at Glasgow Barrowland on Thu 13 March 2025. With a summer festival schedule also taking shape, The Lathums look ahead to one of their biggest, headline outdoor shows to date at Leeds’ Millennium Square on Sat 12 July 2025.
