SUBTERRANIA SHARE MAD-CHESTER INSPIRED NEW SINGLE ‘KNOWS ME TO WELL’

SINGLE REVIEW | SUBTERRANIA – KNOWS ME TOO WELL by Izzy Martin

Subterrania are a 4 piece indie rock band from South Wales. The band consists of Dylan Cai (Frontman), Luis (Drums), Fin (Guitar) and Jamie (Bass). The lads crossed paths at an open mic gig in their hometown of Swansea in 2023, the connection was instantaneous and the bond between them has been unstoppable since.

Over the last twelve months, the band have been honing their craft on ever-growing stages across the country such, as The Bunkhouse in Swansea and The Dublin Castel in Camden, London. Supported the likes of Pastel, Rosellas and Marseille and hosted their first headline show at Afan Ales, out in less than 24 hours.

Their debut single, ‘Benidorm’ and follow-up single ‘Shine’ have received radio plays across stations such as BBC Radio Wales and Future Hits Radio, coming in at Number 2 for Track of the Year.

Their new single ‘Knows Me Too Well’ is out now. Released on the 25th of May 2024, the track is full of blistering guitar solos, wild drumming and a Madchester-inspired lyricism that feels so fresh with a hint of nostalgia and of course effortless vocals. The single was written and composed collectively by the band.

The band mentioned when writing ‘Knows Me Too Well’ that they wanted the track to resonate with the challenges encountered by so many performers, and to reflect on moments where their openness and trust in and out of the music scene could have been abused.

The track is almost like a reminder of how their relationships with family, friends and themselves as they are constantly under a magnifying glass with their hands often being the ones to hold it.

It’s a reflection on the myriad challenges people face daily and shines an unpolished light on self-doubt, anxiety and uncertainty.

With their first and biggest headline show to date with This Feeling at The Bunkhouse in Swansea on the 15th of June, followed by their appearance at major UK festivals soon to be announced is just the start of an incredible year ahead for Subterrania.
