TALENT AND TEMPERATURES SOAR AS TRNSMT GETS UNDERWAY FOR ANOTHER YEAR
TRNSMT FESTIVAL 2025 | DAY 1 REVIEW by Bob O’Reilly-Mclean
What a day to kick off TRNSMT – 27 degrees in Glasgow! A bit too hot for us Scots, but the sunshine only added to the electric atmosphere across Glasgow Green.
The day began with a true local moment: Calum Bowie opened the Main Stage, setting the tone for a weekend celebrating Scottish talent. From there, we wandered over to the BBC Introducing Stage to catch Fourth Daughter, whose set was a standout early highlight.
Back on the Main Stage, Twin Atlantic delivered a stellar performance – no surprise there. It’s always a proud moment seeing so many Scottish artists command the biggest crowds. Over on the King Tut’s Stage, Good Neighbours and The Royston Club played to packed audiences, with the Glasgow crowd showing up in full voice and energy.
Whilst there was no complaints of what was on the stage, there was one issue on the ground that stood out: the water stations. While it was great to have them set up throughout the venue, the water was surprisingly warm—almost undrinkable in the sweltering heat. With temperatures hitting 27 degrees, it seemed like the festival wasn’t quite ready for such extreme weather.
Back to the main event, Bemz brought the day on the BBC Introducing Stage to a close with a heartfelt, feel-good set. It’s wild to think that just three years ago, he was opening that very stage – now he’s owning it.
Confidence Man hit the ground running with a show full of charisma and energy, truly a standout act of the day. Then The Script took us on a nostalgic ride back to 2006, proving they’re still top-tier showmen with a crowd-pleasing performance.
And finally, 50 Cent closed the Main Stage with absolute authority. The cherry on top of an unforgettable Friday at TRNSMT.
