THE AZURESCENS PREMIER MUSIC VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE THE ISLAND
Jangly guitar driven melodies with hook laden chorus, The Island is The Azurescens fourth single since their debut release last November. Produced by Frazer Brown at Armadale’s Werra Foxma Studio, The Island captures the bands rapid growth over the past year. Captivating the best of early 90’s nostalgia with a hint of new wave ambience, The Island will be living rent free in your head for weeks.
Capturing the frustration of being stuck in one place and trying to escape that feeling, The Island is a relatable concept that should strike a nerve with listeners. The message is if that if you want change then you have to take responsibility to make that happen.
Released 7th September, the band this evening (08/09) premiered their brand new music video for The Island. Shot in East Lothians picturesque Longniddry Beach on the outskirts of Edinburgh, the video see’s band performing to a very windy backdrop. Filmed and edited by Lucasz and Alina Ruldolf at NeSi Studio, the video’s landscaping captures The Island’s metaphorical concept.
Formed in late 2020, West Lothian indie quartet The Azurescens (pronounced Ahh-zoo-ray-sins) are made up of guitarists Gary (Gaz) Anderson and Andy Tait, bassist Brian Gallacher and new drummer Steven (Knoxy) Knox.
Collectively, the band share a variety of musical influences which is reflected in diversified sound. From 90’s indie bands such as Oasis, Ocean Colour Scene, Stone Roses to heavier classic rock like Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd, The Azurescens deliver sharp, well-crafted musical direction.
Often asked about their conspicuous band name, azurescens is actually derived from a small yet potently psychedelic wild mushroom of the same name. However, for these Azurescens still grafting on the day job, they are much more likely to be found with a cold pint in their hand rather than part of any hallucinogenic rock n roll fueled lifestyle.
Formed in the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, the band would need to wait until 2022 before they could bring their music to the stage. Two years of hard work practicing and fine tuning their unique sound paid off when first ever gig was local sell out.
“seeing people reacting to our songs and seeing the songs evolve from what they started as to how they are now has been incredible”
Gaz – The Azurescens
Now having fine-tuned their set list they continued to play a range of shows throughout their local area including at Bathgate’s Regal as part of a two day festival. The bands biggest live highlight came earlier this year when they supported legendary Stone Roses and Simply Red guitarist Aziz Ibriham at Bathgates’ Purple Orange in May,
“that was mad for us, as soon as we got asked we were buzzing for the 3/4 months to the gig. He was class and a top guy and just watching him do what he does was just crazy”

The gigging opportunities continue to flood in and have since taken their live show to Glasgow and soon Edinburgh when they support The Utopiates on October 13th in the capitals Mash House.
