THE MURDER CAPITALS ‘LOVE OF COUNTRY’: A STAND AGAINST HATRED AND NATIONALISM

The Murder Capital have announced the surprise release of their new track, “Love of Country,” which is part of their upcoming album, “Blindness.” This track is available as a limited edition 7” vinyl and as a digital download, both of which can be purchased through the band’s website or their Bandcamp store. All profits from the sale of this track will be donated to the Medical Aid for Palestinians charity.

James McGovern, the lead singer of The Murder Capital, explains the inspiration behind “Love of Country”:

“‘Love of Country’ addresses the dark side of patriotism and nationalism, and how these sentiments can become dangerous when they are distorted and weaponized. We are witnessing a global spread of hatred towards the ‘other,’ which is as destructive as a disease. No act of land claiming today is more barbaric than the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people.”

He further elaborates on the band’s campaign and their reasons for taking a stand:

“We are releasing a 7” record of ‘Love of Country,’ with 100% of the proceeds going to Medical Aid for Palestinians. In the face of such clear acts of evil, it is crucial to cherish the richness of our diverse communities and the power of human connection. We must stand firm against the rise of nationalist ideologies and speak up for those whose lives are being torn apart by hatred and violence.”

In support of their campaign, the band has also commissioned a mural designed by Viktor H, featuring a poignant lyric from the song. This mural is now on display in central Dublin.

The Murder Capital’s third studio album, “Blindness,” is set to be released on February 21, 2024. The album is described as vividly realized and ambitiously clear-sighted, capturing the band’s re-energized spirit after years of heavy touring. The album was recorded in Los Angeles with Grammy-award-winning producer John Congleton, who previously worked with the band on “Gigi’s Recovery.” Additionally, the band has announced their biggest Irish show to date, scheduled for July 19th at Iveagh Gardens in Dublin.
