The Prodigy closed out this year’s Edinburgh Summer Sessions on Saturday. I got three songs in the pit, and the volume on the first one was so loud that I stopped thinking about my settings. The first time I’d shot outdoors, so a lot of it was working out what does and doesn’t hold up in a field. Everything here is from those three songs.

Then I dropped my kit off at the bit we’d been told we could leave it and went back into the main arena. Mosh pits, folk going over the top of the crowd, four or five rows from the front for a good chunk of the set. I’d not listened to much of them before this. Every age in there and folk from all over, including a few who’d come from Slovakia. A guy up on somebody’s shoulders in a Pikachu hat. A bearded fella who latched onto me and moshed the rest of it with me, and who told me to put my phone away. So I did.

On the 98 home, the special event bus, another guy asked what I’d been shooting. I got the camera back out and showed him a few. He wished me luck.
