THE SNUTS STEP INTO THEIR MOST VULNERABLE ERA YET WITH NEW SINGLE ‘SUMMER RAIN’
The Snuts are BACK! And we are BUZZING!
Back with their brand new heartfelt anthem ‘Summer Rain’, The Snuts‘ latest release marks the West Lothian band’s first taste of new music since 2024’s Millennials.
Following a period of still and reflection which witnessed the band transition into family life, the quartet reappear fresh, bursting with a newfound sense of ambition and creativity. The track yields the band’s most vulnerable moments to date, as Jack Cochrane mines the friction of becoming a father while the band’s career was soaring with success.
Jack shares: “My wife was struggling really badly with postnatal depression. We had a kid when the band had just released our third album and were on tour. That’s way too much to be doing with a newborn.”
The lyrics trace the couple’s journey as they moved from life on the road to confronting the sobering quiet of their shared reality of being a family. Reflecting on the change with pride and optimism, Jack sings on the second verse: “A new addition now our sun’s out, Two was good but three feels like home now, We’re feeling better than we ever, Ever did in any weather so”.

Whilst the themes may sound intense, ‘Summer Rain’ is full of sweetness and optimism about the future. This next chapter recognises a more mature and grown up version of The Snuts. Not just found in the sentiment, but atmospherically through grandeur production that utilises polished orchestration and synth driven climax.
The music video, brought to life by filmmaker Charles Gall, mirrors the song’s vulnerability. Moving between the stillness of Scottish woodland and the expanse of the beach, the lens captures a rare sight: a bare-faced Jack Cochrane without his characteristic guarded shades. By doing so he conveys an emotional depth he previously kept hidden, allowing him to connect with his audience in ways he hasn’t done before.
“I thought that I could just fix it, that’s a classic man thing, then I had to actually grow up. Lyrically, the song expresses the impact of change and the fear of the future, but also a willingness or plea to restart and claim back functional happiness.” – Jack Cochrane (The Snuts)
For those who are looking to revive the attitude and energy of Burn The Empire era, then you won’t find that version of The Snuts here. By reclaiming their creative direction with the establishment of their very own ‘Happy Artists‘ label ahead of their last album, The Snuts have permitted themselves a space where they can make and release music they want to. While Millennials allowed the band to explore this adaptive territory, ‘Summer Rain’ shows shows them walking through it with total confidence, firmly embracing a mature, pop-driven narrative.
‘Summer Rain’ is the first taste of new music from The Snuts’ forthcoming fourth album, to be released in 2026 via the band’s own label, Happy Artist – in partnership with Virgin Music Group. The band will take their new material on the road with a run of intimate UK shows this March.
