WHY TRUCK FESTIVAL IS BECOMING ONE OF THE UK’S FAVOURITE FESTIVALS

Truck Festival 2024 (Charlie Wright / Northern Exposure)
If we had to choose one festival that has come into its own over the last few years, it’s Truck Festival. What started from humble beginnings in 1998, founded by the Bennett Family, has now become touted as a ‘miniature Glastonbury‘ (NME). There may be fewer trucks than 20 years ago, but there’s a whole load more bands and artists than ever before.
Based in Oxfordshire, Hill Farm, the festival has welcomed huge names such as FOALS, Royal Blood, Sam Fender, Catfish & The Bottlemen, Alt J and many more, as well as giving a boost to thousands of rising stars. Most recently, we saw a jam-packed line-up with headliners The Streets, IDLES, Declan McKenna, Jamie T, Soft Play, Wet Leg and The Kooks.
2025 is set to be even bigger, with an unbelievable line-up already out in the world including Nothing But Thieves (UK exclusive), Kasabian, Bloc Party, Courteeners, Blossoms, The Last Dinner Party and Franz Ferdinand. If that wasn’t enough, they’re also hosting Wunderhorse, Hard Life, CMAT, Maximo Park, Scouting For Girls and an endless list of your indie favourites.

But – why should you be heading to the fields of Oxfordshire? We’ve put together our top reasons why you ought to be returning or trying out the fields in 2025.
Sometimes smaller, is better
Truck Festival is a perfect size both in bands playing and the logistics of moving about. It’s fast and easy to move between the eight stages, ensuring you see everybody on your bucket list. There’s more than enough space to have fun while feeling like you’re part of a tight-knit community for a few days. Like other festivals, Truck comes with a handy app which allows you to favourite artists you’d love to see and sends alerts when events are happening (like spontaneous paint parties!).
Vibes? Yes
Our favourite part about Truck Festival is the shared ‘vibes’ of everyone. Kindness and a sense of fun feel like an unspoken rule when arriving at the farm, which makes the experience extra special. There are people of all age groups, from kids and families to young adults, making it also incredibly diverse.
8 unique stages
You heard us right, there are eight stages at Truck Festival. Each of them is unique in personality, making for a sensational variety of music, moments and experiences.
- Truck Stage: For the huge headlining moments
- Market Stage: Showcasing the freshest new music
- The Nest: Rock and roll…and mosh pits!
- The Taproom: Talks, discussions, gameshow…and pints on tap
- The Rockin’ Chair: Comedy, cabaret and DJ’s
- This Feeling: Emerging talent, promoted by This Feeling
- V&V Stage: Local artists, and band app winners
- Little Truckers: Family-friendly – bundles of fun
The, Orchestra?
There’s a reason welcoming Oxford’s Symphony Orchestra has become a viral tradition. All we’ll say is…it isn’t your usual orchestral show. And it gets more fun every year.
Ridiculous value for money
Like most festivals nowadays, Truck releases their tickets in waves (or, tiers) which allows avid fans to get cheaper prices if they buy sooner. While the initial (and cheapest) tiers have sold out, the greatest part about the festival is value for money, regardless of when you snag a ticket. Right now, you can purchase a weekend ticket from £190, which is an unbeatable price, for such an array of leading bands.
Music, lots of it
While the festival is bursting with character, quirky experiences and things to do, music still reigns supreme. That’s not to say you won’t embark on a few side quests (spoiler, you will). But, the lineup at Truck has never been short of brilliant for the indie and rock genres. This year, it’s even better.
Truck Festival arrives 24th – 27th July 2025, with tickets already on sale. Have we convinced you to take a trip to Oxford this Summer? You won’t regret it. Maybe we’ll see you in the fields.
