MR WORLDWIDE TICKS OFF A NEW SPOT ON THE MAP – LYTHAM FESTIVAL’S 15TH YEAR COMES TO A CLOSE

The party started early, with a sea of bald caps and blow-up globes taking on Lytham’s pubs and bars in the early afternoon. Fresh off the stage at Roundhay Festival in Leeds, Pitbull was set to make his Lytham debut on the final night of this years TK Maxx presents Lytham Festival.
With the crowd gathering early to ensure none of the action would be missed. DJ PBH and Tinchy Stryder kicked off the evening, and wow, did they know how to get the crowd going. Rapper and producer Lil Jon then took the stage, boasting his incredibly vast discography. Much like Pitbull himself, Lil Jon really is one of those artists whose tracks bring such nostalgia to the audience. This blast back to the 2010’s well and truly set the tone for the night and went down a treat with the crowd.
Pitbull’s uncle, DJ Laz, then made sure the fans did not lose their energy, keeping them going and growing the anticipation before the main act. Shortly after, Pitbull’s guitarists took the stage, kicking off the show with the walkout song ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ as his intro video began to play. Pitbull shot up onto the stage and immediately jumped into ‘Don’t Stop The Party’, and the crowd (quite literally) went wild.
A sea of bald caps, sunglasses and shirts could be seen jumping and dancing around as a series of blow-up globes went soaring above their heads. The international language that is Pitbull’s music brought the crowd together that night, people of all generations and walks of life, united through music. Pitbull himself took the time to acknowledge these ideas before singing ‘We Are One’. In light of England’s football match later that evening, Pitbull noted what a privilege it is to perform this record at this time, and how now more than ever we need to “teach everybody that we are one”, “there is only one race, and that’s the human race”.
The second half of the set saw a series of classics and collaborations from Mr Worldwide’s career from ‘On The Floor’ to‘DJ Got Us Falling In Love’. As he strutted up and down the walk-way with his dancers, the crowd sang back the songs which make up the soundtrack to our lives, whether you remember them being released, or have been brought up on them by siblings and parents, the fans knew every word and each was sang back with just as much joy as the next.
Lil Jon was then invited to join the stage, collaborating on ‘JUMPIN’ and ‘Damn I Love Miami’, before Pitbull then encouraged the crowd to thank Lil Jon for believing in him as “without him, I wouldn’t be on this stage”. The festival turned night club was then hyped up for the last time, with the tracks everyone had been waiting for. ‘Timber’ followed by ‘Time of our Lives’ and‘Fireball’ saw a phenomenal high energy close to the night. Paying homage to the closing night of Lytham Festival’s 15th year in his final speech, Pitbull thanked the crowd for being there with him and encouraged them to have the time of their lives so that this night would go down in Lytham Festival history. As the final song ‘Give Me Everything’ rang out, it was clear this mission had been achieved, with what was probably the most high-energy show Lytham Festival has seen across its 15 years.
