THOM RYLANCE CHATS TO SAM SHINER AHEAD OF THEIR TOUR WITH NICKELBACK

When we joined Thom and Kate from The Lottery Winners back in January on tour in Scotland, we asked Thom who the most famous person in his phone book was. “NOEL GALLAGHER” Thom answered without a second thought. “I’ve been texting Noel a lot, like c’mon lad, when are we going out together (laughs) and I think, I think we might have something to announce really soon.” And they did. Only a few weeks later, it was announced that The Lottery Winners would open for the legendary Oasis brother when his band Noel Gallaghers High Flying Birds play Wigan’s Robin Park this summer. They will join The Slow Readers Club as the support on the first night of four consecutive outdoor events also featuring The Lathums and Richard Ashcroft.

A bucket list moment for sure, supporting Noel is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to The Lottery Winners packed live scheduled. Beginning 2024 with their rescheduled ‘This Is How It Feels’ tour dates, the band joined the iconic Rick Astley across some of the UK’s biggest arenas before heading across the Atlantic to play a mammoth 10 shows in 10 days at SXSX in Texas. Throwing in another UK tour and a surprise appearance at Liverpool’s Sound City – The Lottery Winners could quite likely be the country’s busiest live act.

This week, they take on their biggest audiences yet when they go out on the road with Canadian Rock band Nickelback. Opening on both UK and Europe dates, the band will be playing to crowds as big as 20,000 music fans. However, that wasn’t enough and so, the country’s most hard working band have thrown in a little ‘House Warming’ tour…with not one, but two gigs in one day with family friendly matinee’s! Not even mentioning their busy festival season, we’re exhausted just thinking about it!

Chatting to Northern Exposure’s Sam Shiner ahead of the Nickelback tour, Thom Rylance of The Lottery Winners chats about their incredible opportunities so far and what’s next for the band – with a healthy dose of hilarity and nonsense thrown in for giggles.
