PHOTOGRAPHERS

HOPE

Hello, I’m Hope! As a freelance photographer and content creator, I wear many hats. Unofficially, I’m a driver, merchandise vendor, hairstylist, makeup artist, comedian, therapist—whatever is needed on show day, I’m there.

I am based in Glasgow and thrive on making people laugh and feel confident. Posed or candid? While posed photos have their place, I adore capturing the essence of the moment; candid shots capture my heart. Working in the music industry is not for the faint-hearted, which is why being part of an incredible team like NE, where everyone supports one another, makes it a much more enjoyable experience.

BELLA

Hi, I’m Bella! I’ve been living and working as a photographer in Manchester for the last three years but have been a valiant gig-goer since I was deep in my 2009 emo-phase. I’ve been a part of Northern Exposure for a year now as both a photographer and writer and couldn’t be prouder to work with such an incredible team led by four incredible women.

I specialise in concert photography but love film, portrait and mixed media photography. As of this year I have both my BA and MA in filmmaking which comes in handy for my videography ventures, I’ve directed and edited four music videos so far and I’m hoping to indulge in this further and meet/work with more artists in the future!

MORRIS

Hi, I’m Morris. I’m a photographer and writer originally from Brooklyn, New York, and now based in South London. Live music is perhaps my biggest passion, and doing gig photography and reviews here in London has been such a great way to interact with this in a new and creative way. Musically I’m driven by bold and surprising choices by artists that have something to say in a way I haven’t seen before. Northern Exposure Magazine is one of the kindest, most welcoming, and fun groups I’ve been a part of. We’re all wonderful creative people and I’m honored to be here!

TOM

My name is Tom, I am a writer and photographer for Northern Exposure. I am originally from the South Coast but now live in London: fittingly, my previous work has appeared in both the Portsmouth Evening News (“The News”) and the London Evening Standard but I am now hoping to expand my reach to north of the M25.

Music is at the heart of everything I do. So far I have been fortunate enough to shoot Teenage Dads and Confidence Man and to interview The LaFontaines for Northern Exposure. When not working for the magazine I am also out gigging with my own band.

Trying to capture the magic of all things music, and to share that with an audience, is a difficult task for anyone but Northern Exposure do this so well and it is why I am excited to be part of the team here.

OLLIE HAYMAN

Hey!

I’m Ollie, I’m based in the South West of England! I love travelling and of course taking photos. My favourite band is Enter Shikari (by a landslide)! I mainly focus on rock and metal music, but also have a lot of love for indie too. I’m a team leader at Costa by day, and a massive gig goer at night. I’ve always been told I’ve got a good eye for photography, so wanted to pair my passion for photography and my love for music, it just went hand in hand!

I’ve been in the concert scene for about a year and have been lucky enough to shoot artists such as, Lana Del Rey, Weezer and Lil Yachty. I’ve been part of Northern Exposure for about 6 months and have been loving it! I’m also a student at London college of fashion, Just finishing my 2nd year, which has given me experience in portrait and press images which I have taken for Seye Adelekan (Gorillaz) and Niko B.

CHARLIE

Hey, I’m Charlie, a writer and photographer @ Northern Exposure based between Leicestershire and London. Music has been a monumental part of my life since I was a late teenager, realising it’s one of the only areas of modern life that can connect or unify the world. I’ve been writing reviews and opinion for two years, and recently began exploring photography, after finding myself enjoying taking snaps on my iPhone at gigs, and being intrigued by those people in the pit. In less than 6 months, I’ve been fortunate to shoot the likes of The Magic Gang, Artemas and Swim School. During the day, you’ll find me as a Marketing Lead working with various arts and cultural organisations and by night, it’s all about music.

IZZY

Hi! I’m Izzy, I’m a 22-year old music and documentary photographer from Hertfordshire, currently based in Edinburgh. I’ve been shooting gigs while studying art at university for 3 years, getting the opportunity to shoot for a wealth of artists and events during my time there. Now a graduate, I can’t wait to get stuck in properly with music photography and the lovely, welcoming team at Northern Exposure. So far, I’m most proud of photographing Nova Twins, Billy Woods, Wasia Project, Billie Marten and exhibiting photography at the Edinburgh College of Art. I’m really looking forward to working with NE and seeing where this year takes me!

ANYA

Hi! I’m Anya, a photographer for Northern Exposure based in the Nottingham/ Derby area. I have been doing photography since I was the age of 11 when my Grandad gave me one of his old cameras. I found my love for gig photography just after COVID when we were allowed back out and I took some photos Larkins at Rescue Rooms on my phone and found that I was half decent at it! Since then I have had the opportunity to shoot some of my favourite artists such as Alfie Templeman, The Happy Mondays, Andrew Cushin and most recently Afflecks Palace (thanks to NE).

SHONA

Hi, I’m Shona, security guard by day, photographer and writer by night. I am obsessed with live music – especially the unknown, unsigned, grassroots bands at gigs where you can get a whole night of entertainment for like a fiver. Northern Exposure seemed like the perfect fit for me because they’ve always championed this kind of music; every big act starts somewhere, right?

When I left my husband, part of finding myself again was to get back into the local music scene I had always been a supporter of as a uni student. But because I often go to gigs alone, I started to get overwhelmed, had no one to turn to as a distraction, and my anxiety forced me to leave early on a number of occasions. That all changed when I started forcing myself to the front row to take photos on my phone. By trying to give myself something to focus on, other than how sticky the floor was, I found a new passion in photography, and I was apparently quite good at it. Now, with an actual camera in my hand, it doesn’t matter how messy the mosh pit is, I’m always at the centre of the action waiting to get the shot – so I guess I’ll see you down the front!

LUCY

Hey! I’m Lucy, a 23-year-old loud and proud Scouser who braved living in Manchester for a while. I’m a massive Liverpool fan and an even bigger fan of (shamelessly) The 1975 and Harry Styles! I’m a lover of red wine, music that’s made for grandads, and truffle pasta.

I’ve been photographing and writing since I was a pre-teen and even managed to bag myself a first-class journalism degree! I’m now gearing up to travel around Asia, hoping to catch a few gigs along the way before I settle into a “big girl” job.

I’ve been lucky enough to review and photograph at some of the UK’s biggest festivals, and I’ve even sold some of my work to artists like Skepta and Dave. One of my highlights was interviewing Wolf Alice, who I absolutely love. I have a passion for writing, grilling cool artists with my burning questions, and continuing to contribute to Northern Exposure <3

LUCIE

My name is Lucie, and I am a photographer based in Glasgow!

I have been shooting at gigs now for over 2 years, and have had some amazing opportunities come from something that started out not so serious. I took my first ever concert photo on a little digital camera from the crowd, and this was my forward for a while.

I love photography for many reasons, the opportunity to shoot from 150 capacity venues to huge festivals. However nothing amounts to joy of meeting so many amazing people that I’ve had the pleasure of working along side with since the beginning. I can’t wait to further this with Northern Exposure!

CORIN

Hey! My name is Corin, I’m a musician and writer based in Central Scotland. Music has been my passion since I was wee and it’s taken me down so many amazing paths! I found myself absolutely raving about gigs that I would go to and Northern Exposure has given me the opportunity to ramble on about how amazing and talented all these local artists are! My favourite genres are alternative folk and indie but I love everything in between and I am always up for finding new underground music that deserves more credit. I will be studying Music at University for the next few years and can’t wait to see where it takes me. The team at Northern Exposure are all absolutely incredible and they truly inspire me to create pieces of work that give a platform to smaller artists.

Hey! I’m Kayleigh and I’m a photographer based in the North West. I’ve been photographing gigs since I was 16 by sneaking my camera into the venue or messaging the bands for photo passes. I went to the University of Sunderland and now have a degree in Photography, Video and Digital Imaging.
My favourite genre of music to shoot is rock because I love the energy they always have on stage. My favourite bands are; Waterparks, COIN, Stand Atlantic and Tenacious D and I’ve had the pleasure of photographing some of them thanks to NE.

REBECCA

Hi, I’m Rebecca, I’m a photographer based just outside Glasgow, Scotland. I only officially began concert photography as of February this year, I’ve always loved live music and started photography just over a year ago now, so when I came to the realisation that I could merge these two passions together into one career I knew this was what I wanted to do. I’m starting a photography course in college later this year, hoping to expand and improve on my skills. I’ve already shot for so many of my favourite artists; FLETCHER, The Academic, Twin Atlantic, Tom Walker, and I can’t wait to continue adding to this list! I’ve absolutely adored being a part of the Northern Exposure team and can’t wait to continue contributing to such an amazing organisation.
