Rating: 3 out of 5.

Scottish band Ample House have released their second single ‘Good Health’ in the midst of already making a generous name for themselves. The alternative/indie-rock trio have an almost transcendent sound that bends with each release. With influences from Finneas to Arcade Fire the band promises to be an interesting vision in the current genre.

Good Health’ is a brilliantly produced track if nothing else, with perfectly blended vocals and guitar that packs a punch. This tune has layers that are stripped back, and underlying contrasting synths and bass riffs to insulate the inspired composition. Alongside all my fancy language for basically saying, job well done lads, grit and heart rises above.

The band said the introspective track “delves into the complexities of living with anxiety and the delicate balance between solitude and loneliness”, a relatable sentiment to any young person in the country today. The track battles with itself, breaking up electric heavy sections and acoustic breaks to understand its subject.

Great tracks are often made when there’s a great marriage made between the lyrics and the music, an understanding and connection between the two. Ample House has clearly made a good home here for this relationship, already proving that they can perform both elements and perform both well.

With only two tracks out currently, their debut single ‘Better Person’ already having over 20 thousand plays, I imagine the band are destined for pretty good things; ‘Good Health’ is a sturdy track that reflects good promise in Ample house. Supporting artists in the past like The Kairos and playing Glasgow Houseguest Festival this month can only be a good sign and a way to show the world their potential.
