Ben Ellis has marked the start of a new era in his music career with the release of his heartfelt new single ‘Where She Goes’. Whilst differing from many of his recent uptempo tracks such as ‘Red Handed’ and ‘Burner Phone’, Ben has ensured that this moving ballad doesn’t miss the mark. With an incredibly thought-out production and musical composition, this track acts as a seamless blend from his previous EP (‘The Hollywood EP‘) to a new project, which we can expect to hear more of in the coming months.

‘Where She Goes’ has completely taken fans by storm after its debut performance during his sold-out UK tour earlier this year. The surprise addition to the setlist left the crowd moved by its lyricism and relatability. The main line “My love stays where she goes” sparking a range of personal connections among listeners. The single has been widely anticipated by fans as Ben has continued to tease the unreleased track during his acoustic performances supporting Alfie Jukes on his UK & EU tour. His jovial comments surrounding a potential release date have only added to the excitement, keeping listeners on their toes as they have anticipated the official release.

This summer has seen a second live debut for ‘Where She Goes’, this time accompanied by a full band. Having taken the stage supporting Jess Glynne and being featured on the lineup for TRNSMT, Ben has treated fans to an exclusive first listen to the full production. The song begins as a slow, gentle ballad reminiscent of his previous single ‘Never Getting Out’. However, upon hitting the chorus, Ben’s vocals are joined by powerful drum beats and echoing backing harmonies, a unique sound unlike anything we’ve heard from him before. As the song builds, we are provided with a moving guitar solo before the song returns to its roots – a stripped-back acoustic piece featuring just Ben and his guitar.

In a recent Instagram Q&A, Ben regarded the moment he knew he loved the song so much that he got a $30 Uber to show the song to his music producer, Matt. Following the approval of his team, ‘Where She Goes’ has gone from strength to strength, turning into Ben’s favourite thing he has released so far. Regarding the tracks’ deep-rooted emotional value, Ben explains how “it just says everything I was feeling”, making the song an artistic manifestation of his thoughts and feelings. Ben’s favourite lyric: “When she gets all she wanted/ I’ll be cheering regardless/ I still care if I’m honest”, echoes the mental battle between denial, acceptance and moving on post-breakup.

‘Where She Goes’ has gained large amounts of traction across Ben’s social media platforms, with interactive Polaroid puzzles, secret passwords and TikTok trends. Following the success of his acoustic shows in February, Ben has also announced a highly anticipated second headline tour for the end of 2025. With ‘Where She Goes’ at its heart, being aptly named ‘My Love Stays On Tour’, this tour marks an undeniable turning point for the Welsh indie artist. It reflects his past successes and outlines the optimistic future that is ahead as his team and fan base continue to grow. Using Ben’s words, it’s very clear: ‘We’re so back’, and ‘Where She Goes’ is just the beginning of what’s to come.
