Biffy Clyro (Hope Simmers/Northern Exposure)

With just weeks left to go until Summer Sessions return to Edinburgh, we bring you everything you need to know before making your way to Ingliston Royal Highland Showgrounds.

With 7 massive shows taking place between 21st and 29th August, the line-up has never been bigger. On the alternative end, you have Scottish rock royalty Biffy Clyro, goth cult legends The Cure, and the atmospheric metal of Deftones. Bringing the charts alive are the powerful vocals of Florence + The Machine and the electro-pop anthems of Lorde, before the series wraps up with one massive outdoor rave courtesy of The Prodigy. Throw in the brand-new, family-friendly festival Heather on the Hill, and Edinburgh Summer Sessions has something to convert even the most casual music fan.

With that out of the way, lets breakdown the essentials for heading to Edinburgh Summer Sessions….

Getting Here

Planning your travel is the most important step before heading to the Royal Highland Showground. It’s located right next to Edinburgh Airport – definitely too far to walk from the city centre (that’s a solid three hours!) – but its “on the outskirts” location actually makes it much easier to access by public transport.

Located next to Edinburgh Airport, the venue is highly accessible via multiple transport links.

  • By Tram: Trams run every 10 minutes to/from Ingliston Park & Ride. From there, it is either a 15-minute walk or a free shuttle bus ride to the venue.
  • By Train: Closest stations are Edinburgh Gateway or Edinburgh Park stations, then catch a direct tram to Ingliston Park & Ride. (Trams also available from across the Edinburgh area). Timetables via Scotrail.
  • By Bus:
    • Lothian Buses & Citylink: Frequent services stop within a short walk of the venue (check their websites to plan routes).
    • Happy Bus: Direct coaches run from across Scotland (must be pre-booked).
    • Big Green Coach: Running from Aberdeen, Dundee, Glasgow, Middlesbrough, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Perth and Sunderland.
  • By Car & Parking: On-site parking requires a pre-booked £15 ticket via Ticketmaster. Alternatively, use Edinburgh’s regional Park & Ride lots.
  • Pick up/Drop off: Official pick-up and drop-off locations will be confirmed closer to the event date.
