EMERGING LIVERPOOL QUARTET ‘KEYSIDE’ SHARE NEW EP FOCUS TRACK ‘NIKITA’

FOUR TRACK EP RELEASE ‘NIKITA’ IS OUT NOW | BY RAKELLE MAURICI

Marrying alt-pop notes inspired by nostalgic sounds, Modern Sky’s Keyside latest single ‘Nikita‘ comes ahead of their debut EP release of the same name.

The catchy chorus lends itself to a wave of 90s British sounds whilst the thought-provoking lyrics exude mystery.

Based on frontman Dan Parker’s personal experiences, Nikita recounts the experience of a girl feeling abandoned by her addict mother. Touching on how delicate and fragile people can be, the lyrics rip through her fears of being left alone and feelings of being overlooked and ultimately, feeling unloved – leaving her desperate for connection.

Much like their previous tracks ‘Angeline‘ and ‘Turn Back Time‘, there’s no denying that there is a Merseyside influence from the greats within ‘Nikita‘. Combining soft acoustic guitar with electric riffs, summery-notes shrine through on this energetic single. Although quite the oxymoron to the sentimental lyrics over the top.

Described as “an emerging act to watch”, KEYSIDE have created a storm alongside the likes of Jamie Webster and Shed Seven. Setting venues alight, it won’t come as a surprise if 2024 turns out to a powerful year for the young band.

NIKITA is out on single and now full EP of the same title.
