EMO VETERANS TAKING BACK SUNDAY RETURN TO THE UK WITH A SOLD OUT MINI TOUR SHOWCASING NEW ALBUM ‘152’

LIVE AT THE O2 RITZ MANCHESTER 26/03/24

Walking out on stage to a packed room at Manchester’s The Ritz in their new look of matching maroon suits, Taking Back Sunday were met with a huge welcome from the crowd. Opening with S’Old and quickly following up with Set Phasers To Stun, frontman Adam Lazzara got the whole room dancing and singing along.

Touring to showcase last year’s 152, Taking Back Sunday mixed up their set with several songs from that album such as Amphetamine Smiles, Keep Going and Quit Trying alongside many of their classics including A Decade Under The Influence, Tidal Wave, What’s It Feel Like To Be A Ghost? and You’re So Last Summer, amongst others.

Knowing just when to slow things down and ramp things back up again, the set was paced incredibly well and it was clear Taking Back Sunday were still passionate about what they do after 25 years. While the biggest responses from the audience seemed to be for songs from 2002’s Tell All Your Friends and 2006’s Louder Now, notably for Timberwolves At New Jersey and Liar (It Takes One To Know One), it was great to see warm responses to the newer stuff, too.

Wisely eschewing the trope of leaving the stage and coming back for an encore (as Lazzara pointed out, they knew they would be coming back, we knew they would be coming and in that time they could get an extra couple of songs in) they finished the night with their two biggest hits, Cute Without The ‘E’ (Cut From The Team) and MakeDamnSure, ensuring everyone left on the highest of highs.

Taking Back Sunday never disappoint live and this was no exception – they might be Taking Back Sunday but they absolutely owned Tuesday!
