FEET TALK ALL THINGS NEIGHBOURHOOD FESTIVAL AND THE POSSIBILITIES OF SUPERGROUPS!
It’s almost time to say ‘Welcome back to the Neighbourhood!’
Yes, you heard that right. Manchester’s biggest party is back on October the 5th – bringing together all your favourite music venues and inviting some of the most exciting names in music back to the city.
We caught up with none other than George Haverson, the frontman of the sensational band Feet, ahead of their appearance at this year’s Neighbourhood Festival.
After first playing the festival in 2017 amongst other household names such as Peace, Sam Fender, The Amazons, Cabbage, The Pale White and The Blinders – George reflected on seeing Viagra Boys before their set and reminisced on the lively crowd they drew for their slot in the Neighbourhood.
Holly – ‘After being no stranger to the festival since 2017, how do you anticipate your set differing from your NBHD debut 7 years later?’
George – ‘Erm, well we’ve got more albums out now and I’m hoping we’ll pull some more people down haha. We did alright back then and I’m sure it’ll be one of the good ones this time around.’
Holly – ‘Considering NBHD Festival focuses on highlighting the multitude of music venues Manchester has to offer, have you found a favourite venue in Manchester over the years?’
George – ‘I do really like the Ritz, I know O2 venues can differ from the more independent venues. However, out of all the O2 venues we’ve played – that’s got to be the best one. Not to mention it’s a great room. I loved playing the Deaf Institute and Gorilla as well.’
Holly – ‘Is there anything specific you enjoy about playing shows in Manchester?’
George – ‘I’d probably just say the crowds to be honest. It’s always just a bit more mad for it up north, as the cliche goes. But, I do seem to find people are so much more engaging and way more up for a good night. We always seem to find it’s one of those towns where we always go out after the show, there’s always good stuff to do and there’s always good people around. So, I’d probably say overall it’s the atmosphere of Manchester.’
Holly – ‘Is that confirmation of a Feet X NBHD afterparty?’
George – ‘I don’t see why not haha. Earn a little bit extra.’
Holly – ‘We could get you on the decks at YES? That would be pretty cool.’
George – ‘That would be pretty cool haha.’

Holly – ‘How’ve you found the album reception of the album campaign, is there new material on the way?’
George – ‘It’s been good, we’ve really enjoyed it.’ But, yeah we’ve got new material on the way and ready to go. Obviously, after having a great time with The Porn Crumpets in Europe and getting to play some tracks off the album to new crowds, it’s been great. Obviously, we’ve got our tour in Autumn but it’s really the first time we’re getting to showcase the album in full and really feel the full reception towards it. We’re excited to finally take the album on the road but we’ve also got new music we’re going to be taking with us too. Whilst the second album felt more contemplative and melancholic in places, I don’t want to say the new stuff sounds like “old Feet” because that sounds bad, but this is a new Feet – taking a bit more of a lunge, going more upbeat – danceable. There you go haha.’
Holly – ‘I do think a lot of people really enjoyed your debut album and the energy of it. Maybe if we are going back to a sound more reminiscent of ‘What’s Inside Is More Than Just Ham’, that could be a really exciting prospect for fans?
George – ‘Haha I hope so, I fucking hope so. I mean the sound is different, don’t get me wrong but I think maybe the attitude we had during the first album is present in the new stuff. All will be revealed, all will be revealed.’
Holly – ‘If you could share a festival lineup, like Neighbourhood, with three other bands – who would they be?’
George – ‘That’s a good question… I’d say Get Down Services, immaculate vibes – and they’re very good. I’d say Amyl and The Sniffers – she’s just so good, as a band they were one of my favourites of the Summer last year. It’d probably be those two and maybe Snõõper – they’re like an American band, very cool. I think they’re classed as ‘Egg Punk’ (it’s very quick) . I did just hear them on an advert for O2, which was really funny but they’re pretty cool.
Holly – ‘So if Snõõper are described as ‘Egg Punk’, what are Feet described as? You can’t say Feet-Punk…’
George – ‘Haha I wouldn’t dare. Somebody commented on one of our videos, I think it was Greasy Boy, and called us ‘Low-Testosterone Rock’.
Holly – ‘That feels like it could be the name of a supergroup with like you, Sports Team and Courting haha.’
George – ‘Haha I think that could work, I think there’s enough lack-of testosterone knocking about to make this happen.’
Holly – ‘If you were to form a supergroup under the name ‘Low-Testosterone Rock’, who would you bring into it?’
George – ‘That’s a really good question. I mean Sean and the Courting boys definitely. Sports Team would be good George starts singing I’m In Love (Subaru). The Do Nothings boys too. I’m sure people will be doing papers on Low Testosterone Rock in years to come…’
