LIVE REVIEW | FRANZ FERDINAND | SWG3 YARD, GLASGOW | 13th August 2025 by Emma Carrington

Franz Ferdinand have been doing a multitude of shows since their 2025 release of ‘The Human Fear’ and last week Glasgow’s SWG3 Yard saw their performance on home turf and in full blast.

I don’t need to tell you that Franz Ferdinand are a great band, or that they put on a good performance. The reputation that the band have built up for themselves over more than 20 years of making music and performing. However, what I can tell you that they sound just as good (if not better) than they ever have.

Alex Kapranos, lead singer, has such an amazing stage presence and charm around him and the crowd was truly captivated by him. He brought the vocals, dance moves and down-to-earth stage presence that any lead singer strives for. Interacting with the crowd, Kapranos even strayed from the setlist to take requests from audience members.

Highlights of the night included fan favourites ‘Take Me Out’, ‘Do You Want To’ and ‘No You Girls’, but the real show stopping moment fell when the band welcomed one of the most exciting artists on the rising scene right now: Masterpeace. Performing ‘Hooked’ together, the song from their latest album has recently been given a new lease of life with a remix EP released last month; including the rendition heard here tonight.

Even after all these years, Franz Ferdinand continue to break boundaries in the music industry. Ending with ‘This Fire’, the whole night was full of buzz, nostalgia and pure Glaswegian love.
