Riding the high of the sweet success of latest single Honey brought at the beginning of August, rising Scottish alt-pop stars Pistol Daisys are defining their 2025 with grit, growth and groove. We got the chance to ask Belly, Lorna and Lewis a few questions and take a peek behind the studio door – read on to hear all about the story behind Honey, the band’s bold sound, and their dream invites on a night out.

For those who might not have heard of you yet… who are Pistol Daisys? What’s this band all about?
We’re Pistol Daisys — an alt-pop trio based in Glasgow, fronted by co-lead vocalists Belly and Lorna Lynn, and powered by drummer and producer Lewis Kelly. We make emotionally honest pop music with teeth. Our songs are about heartbreak, identity, queerness, resilience — all wrapped up in big grooves and bigger choruses.

If you could describe your music in 3 words, what would they be?
Bold. Heartfelt. Dangerous.

It’s been over a month since your latest single Honey was released — talk to me about the behind-the-scenes of this song: the big ideas, the stylistic choices, the creative process… we want to hear it all!
Honey is about owning your role as the villain in a relationship — when you know you’re not the one to fix it, and maybe you don’t even want to. It’s sweet, but it stings. Sonically, Lewis (our drummer/producer) layered distorted synths and disco drums under these glassy, bitter-sweet vocal lines. It’s like Blondie meets Nine Inch Nails, with lipstick and regret.

How did you three decide to form a band together?
Belly and Lorna met at an open mic night at King Tut’s — instant chemistry. They kept writing together and started building something that felt bigger than just acoustic sets. Lewis came in as a drummer and producer, and once we heard how the three of us sounded together, that was it.

Who are your big musical inspirations? Which artists do you find yourself listening to most when making music?
Blondie, ABBA, The Gossip, Kate Bush, Stevie Nicks, Daft Punk, and LCD Soundsystem — we draw from bold pop, glam, and grit. But the real influence is storytelling. We want every song to feel like a short film.

You’ve been picking up speed as a group over the past couple of years, but what’s next for Pistol Daisys?
Our debut album drops Spring 2026 on OneRPM, and we’re already rolling out singles leading up to it. We’re on a European tour with Big Country in October, with shows in Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands, then a full UK run in December. We’re also showcasing at IFF, Reeperbahn, and ESNS, with SXSW 2026 in the pipeline. It’s go-time.

What’s been the most important thing you’ve learned so far as a band? Have you come across any challenges you didn’t expect to?
That there’s no blueprint. You have to create your own momentum. We’ve learned to manage ourselves, promote ourselves, fund ourselves, all while writing and performing. It’s DIY by necessity, but that’s also made us more connected to our fans and each other.

You’re planning a night out and each of you can bring one person, dead or alive – who are you partying with?
Lorna: Bob Dylan, so he can mutter mysterious wisdom at the bar. And Bruce Watson from Big Country so he can dance to Dylan’s Bob-isms.
Belly: Freddie Mercury, always. The only one with enough drama to match the energy.
Lewis: Keith Moon. We’d probably end up in jail, but it’d be legendary. Also maybe Stevie Nicks, for chaos and charm.
