KARMA SHEEN JOIN CALEB KUNLE IN SON ESTRELLA GALA MICRO-FEST LINE UP

Having brought the venue into their micro-festival family for ‘Soundhood Hackney’ – the groundbreaking two day, two-venue event in June – SON Estrella Galicia return to Two Palms on December 11th (tickets here).

Once again promising a night of Live Music, Beer Culture, Street Food and Workshops the December event sees Karma Sheen and Caleb Kunle take to the stage, before a Kit Sebastian DJ set.

Since 2009, SON Estrella Galicia has created events that offer a twist on the traditional concert experience in Spain, Brazil, Portugal and the US. They have since become well established in the London scene with 4 events in the past 18 months at Paper Dress Vintage in Hackney  including high profile performances and attendees including Los Bitchos, Coach Party, Teleman, Dream Wife, Prima Queen, DEADLETTER, Swim Deep and more.

This edition is headlined by two special live performances from Karma Sheen and Caleb Kunle.

The music of Karma Sheen merges Hindustani Classical, fuzzy 60s Rock à la Jimi Hendrix and Sufi inspired lyricism, deeply rooted in cultural heritage. Spearheaded by Sameer Khan, who’s formally trained by a 600-year-old lineage of musicians from modern-day Pakistan, this group of multi-instrumentalists aims to bring timeless tradition to new realms. They’ve recently supported the iconic Nabihah Iqbal and their psychedelic live show is not to be missed.

Caleb Kunle is soul music in its purest form for the modern era. Drawing inspiration from the three places he calls home – Lagos (Nigeria), Laois (Ireland), and London (UK) – the folk & soul at the core of his music are the stories and emotions formed through his exploration of the modern world. His infectious live shows fizz with energy and his supporters to date include NME, The Line Of Best Fit, Nicholas Daley, Dazed & more. Think Michael Kiwanuka meets Lee Fields and you’re dreaming the right dream.

London-based duo Kit Sebastian (aka Kit Martin and Merve Erdem) captivate their audiences with moments of pure pop bliss, timeless nostalgia and seductive complexity. Their unique sounds weaves a psychedelic tapestry of global influences, vintage synths and melancholy élan from the beaches of Bahia to the streets of Istanbul and Paris

From its inception the family-owned independent beer brand has fostered community roots in Galicia – working with local farmers and suppliers, and giving visibility to the region and its people. This is replicated at their events across the world – working with local vendors, artists, and sustainability projects for an interactive twist on the concert experience.

For December’s event there will be a Beer x Fuzz Pedal Workshop for any punters to get involved with –  this be RSVP (capacity for 25 people) and will take place at 8-8.30pm, just before the live music. Attendees will be able to do a free beer tasting comparing the different elements with different sounds emitted by the Fuzz pedal, created in collaboration with Lo Fi Mind Effects (a Spanish pedal craftsman).

Two Palms will be putting together a special gastronomic menu, with each meal matched with a Free Estrella Galicia beer to pair with it; and East London artist Robson Cezar AKA King Of The Bottletops will create a mural from Estrella Galicia bottle caps. This highlights in a creative way SON Estrella Galicia’s persistent efforts towards Positive Impact, and aiming for a Zero Waste event.

This is a mission all the more significant given the fact that another arm of the brand’s music programme – SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia Festival in Formentera, Spain – has become the only festival in the world to achieve the True Platinum Zero Waste accreditation from GBCI (more info).

Alongside the London events there is a burgeoning series of new micro-festivals around the world. In New York artists such as Militarie Gun, Crack Cloud, Guerilla Toss, Balkans, Lip Critic have been involved, with subsequent partnerships in Madrid, A Coruña, Barcelona later in 2024 and more to come in Spain, UK and Germany in 2025, reflecting a truly global approach from SON Estrella Galicia.

Estrella Galicia is the flagship beer brand of Hijos de Rivera, an independent, fourth generation family owned brewery founded in 1906 in A Coruña. Estrella Galicia is now present in over 50 countries from around the world, including UK where it arrived in 2012 and since then, has achieved a solid positioning in the market.
