MARISA AND THE MOTHS KICK OFF UK TOUR
Recently sharing the video for ‘Devil’, MARISA AND THE MOTHS have this week, set off on their UK tour. ‘Devil’, taken from their second album What Doesn’t Kill You portrays a story about falling in love again when you had previously convinced yourself that you wouldn’t in order to protect yourself from getting hurt. About being your own worst enemy and giving in to the temptation of a new love, even when you still don’t fully trust your own judgement after experiencing a life-altering and abusive relationship.
Speaking about the song, Marisa says:
“This track is featured at the end of our second album and is a journey which portrays the process of grief after the breakdown of an abusive relationship that I finally escaped from. At the time, I was finally happy – single and enjoying exploring my sexuality and freedom – but then I met someone. I was determined to make sure I wouldn’t get emotionally attached but, deep down, I think I knew from the start that would happen and that scared me after what I went through. If I’m honest, I’ve always been a hopeless romantic so, as much as I told myself it was ‘just sex’, in the end I had to admit to myself the truth of what was happening and bring my protective walls down.”
Marina continues “The song is a reminder to stay open to new love and opportunities because, as scary as it might be to put yourself out there and trust people again, if we don’t and we let our fear take over, then we are the only ones to blame for standing in the way of our own happiness, not the people who hurt us in the past and who aren’t here anymore to see it.”
The band recently announced a headline UK tour for the spring with support from Blackstar Amps as well as a string of UK festival dates. The tour follows their highly acclaimed second album What Doesn’t Kill You, which reached #1 in the Official UK Rock and Metal album charts on its release in May 2024.
