This Monday, My Chemical Romance released the most awaited announcement of the year- a full tour in celebration of the 20 year anniversary of their most famous album, The Black Parade. After a very successful North American tour this year, 2 shows at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium were announced, selling out completely within minutes. Listening to fan requests, My Chemical Romance have announced even more UK and Europe dates: an extra London date, Liverpool, Glasgow, Spain, Italy and even added another American leg of the tour.
Tickets for all new dates go on sale this Friday, September 26, at 12pm local time here.
Trying to avoid as many spoilers for the upcoming tour as possible, here is what you can expect to see- based off of the latest North American tour. As this is ‘The Black Parade’ tour, expect to hear this album in full. Every single show has started off with The Black Parade being played start to finish on main stage, everyone on stage being dressed in their uniforms. The band have been made custom uniforms, matching almost exactly to the ones worn during the original era of The Black Parade back in 2006, you can find pictures of these absolutely everywhere, with many fans posting tutorials about how they made the jackets for the show!! There are even some extra ‘characters’ on stage, performing a very detailed and thought out story, definitely keep an eye out for what is happening around stage to piece the story together.
The rest of the set is performed on the B stage, which they walk over to and is typically located in the middle of the standing crowd. This is right after a little break during the show, giving time for the band to change out of their uniforms and into their regular clothes, being able to perform as ‘themselves’ once again. At this part of the show, the setlist varies each night. There is no way to know what songs will be chosen, but they are predominantly from albums: Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge and Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.
