A DEEP DIVE INTO THE SZIGET 2026 LINE UP
Only 2 months now until Hungary’s biggest music festival takes place on Budapest’s Óbuda Island. Sziget – well known to be one of the biggest and best festivals around Europe – brings in an average of half a million people over the entire weekend! Renowned for bringing a variety of performers from all over the globe – big and small – the festival gives acts the opportunity to win over a new crowd whilst bringing something new and interesting to the line-up.
On the lead up to Sziget, I look a bit further down into the line-up and shine light on some artists that you might not have seen yet. There are a great mix of massive current artists travelling from different corners of the world at the top the bill this year such Bring Me The Horizon, Florence + The Machine, Jorja Smith, Lewis Capaldi, Skepta, Skrillex, Sombr, Twenty One Pilots and Zara Larsson. Personally, it feels a little too early for Sombr to headline such a massive festival but I am very excited to see what he does with this opportunity!
But first, let’s highlight some of those headliners. Twenty One Pilots released their newest album Breach late last year and aren’t officially touring (apart from the already complete Northern America tour), but they are doing a large amount of festivals all throughout Europe, bringing a shortened version of their set for us to enjoy. Bring Me The Horizon have also been doing a handful of festivals lately, being announced slightly later than other headliners but they brought an extra level of hype. Zara Larsson is an act I’m extremely excited to see live, after her massive rebrand she has been putting on a whole new show, upping the production and pulling in a bigger and bigger crowd at each show.
A little lower down, you will see names such as: Ashnikko, Bbno$, Billy Clyro, Dom Dolla, Loyle Carner and Wolf Alice. Many of these artists are already headlining festivals in other countries but due to the standard of incredible headliners at Sziget already, many of these artists will be playing earlier in the day, but most definitely to crowds of similar sizes.
I’m particularly excited for Bbno$, having recently completed The Internet Explorer tour, he will finish this run with many festivals all over the world. His shows look really exciting, the crowds look insane and I think it’s definitely a set that you’re not going to want to miss out on. Wolf Alice are in the same boat, albeit very different energy and vibes from the crowds because of the music they make. After seeing them live last year, all I can say is wow; they absolutely know how to put on a brilliant show. From the stage design, to the setlist, to the performance, people of Sziget are definitely in for a hell of a show!
Even further down the line-up, where the rest of the artists are, you can find: Alt Blk Era, Annisokay, Anthony Szmierek, Bongor, Brooke Combe, Cassia, De’Wayne, Grandma’s House, Karyuu, Lambrini Girls, Leap, Pales, Paris Paloma, Tankcsapda, Technokool and Teen Mortgage.
Annisokay recently performed at Download festival and they were amazing, bringing the energy needed for a massive festival whilst still putting on a great show. Grandma’s House and Lambrini Girls are two bands I wasn’t expecting to see on the bill but I’m pleasantly surprised by. Both based in the UK, I’ve seen them a handful of times each – totally some sets to look out for! Leap have been gaining popularity quite quickly and are once again a band from the UK. They’ve done a headline tour a couple of months ago and are now doing lots of festivals too which has built up a solid audience around the globe. Finishing off with highlighting Paris Paloma; a feminist icon who you might know from her song ‘labour‘. She is such an incredible songwriter and performer and I absolutely cannot wait for her set – it’ll be one to not miss!
