NEON WALTZ MAKE A RAPTUROUS RETURN WITH STRIKING NEW SINGLE

It’s 2023 and the “UK’s most northerly band“, Neon Waltz, has just released their second studio album, Honey Now. But then what? Three years have passed since that record, but the genre gathering, gritty songwriting of Neon Waltz is back with the release of their thrilling new track, ‘Send Me Down‘ via Fierce Panda Records. If you’re searching for alt-rock, lyrics that resonate, or an all-round uplifting sound, then you’ve found all three, plus more.

The current resurrection of Neon Waltz consists of the multi-disciplined Jordan Shearer, guitarists Jamie Swanson and Kevin Swanson, and drummer Darren Coghill. From the moment you press play, there’s a thumping tempo, and a bass riff that brings ‘Send Me Down‘ to life. One of the opening lyrics, “my phone is on the shelf, next to my heart“, talks of things being out of sight, and even out of reach. There’s an emphatic energy within ‘Send Me Down‘ that makes it impossible to sit completely still.

Intricate and in-depth introspection comes in the form of raw, resonant, but also reflective revelations. Shearer sings, “I’ve had the last ten years to say what I want to say, but what’s ten years when it feels like yesterday?” With a track that surrounds evolving through different chapters of life, this is particularly fitting. But this could also be viewed as a tribute to Neon Waltz’s debut album, “Strange Hymns“, which is close to celebrating its tenth anniversary.

Repeated line, “all good things must come to an end, I’m sorry but it’s true“, encapsulates a concept we’ve all had to deal with, relationships or otherwise. While it’s true that all all good things must come to an end, I hope it’s a very long time before Neon Waltz even considers that. Their return with ‘Send Me Down‘ is a memorable one, and sets the bar very high for future releases. Neon Waltz are truly a thrilling testament to surviving the trials and tribulations of a modern musical world.
