Last week, Glasgow‘s most exciting new music spectacle Off The Grid kicked off its mission to take the city by storm. The B12 Entertainment live series, which takes place between 27th August and 25th September, will bring 50 rising bands from across the Central Belt to some of Glasgow’s most iconic grassroots venues.
With the second week of Off The Grid in full swing, the spotlight shifts to Lucky Strike Basement. Sharing the stage with The Skins, Start From Scratch and Civil Hands on Saturday night are Cupid Stunts. We spoke to the Lewis and Jordan about new music, breaking the fourth wall and coffee enemas (yes, really).
First of all, introduce Cupid Stunts; where did it all start, and who makes up the lineup today?
We congealed on the side of a pavement and grew in the Glasgow sewage system like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The lineup now is Lewis, Roe, Jordan, and SJ, and a Ratatouille-esque creature that plays the drums for Jordan by yanking on his leg hairs.
If someone who had never heard your music asked you to describe your sound using only three completely unrelated non-musical items, what would they be?
We would sound like a suitcase full of snakes, a copy of the September 1990 issue of UK magazine ‘Motorsport’, and a Billy Bass wall-mounted singing fish.
Your last single was released a wee while ago now, what have Cupid Stunts been working on since then? Can we expect to hear anything new soon?
We have largely been developing new ways of making fart noises into a clipping microphone, but we do also have some politically charged, actual, real, honest to god music releasing in the next few months.
How has your approach to playing live over the years changed? Do you have any gig disaster moments?
It’s all about breaking the fourth wall for us; we hope to obliterate the barrier between performer and audience.
What’s the most challenging part of being in a rising band in 2026? Is there anything you wish more people knew about?
Sincerely, balancing schedules. Paying for your landlord to sit on their arse and do fuck all while chasing artistic pursuits is tricky.
Shows like Off The Grid from B12 Entertainment are all about discovery. Can you remember a time you have gone in blind to a gig and came away with a new favourite band?
Jordan: Seeing Banana Melt supporting Dananananaykroyd got me into Banana Melt; they’re my favourites now.
Lewis: I fell in love with Gustaf after watching them support Yard Act at the O2 in Glasgow. Either that, or Dinosaur Pile Up catching me by surprise back in 2015 at Classic Grand.”
What does show day look like for Cupid Stunts? Do you guys have any pre-show rituals?
Coffee enema.

Hook Zebra Lane into my veins; they’re playing on September 18th. Those guys are class.
