LIVE REVIEW | BLISS N ESO w/ Ivan Ooze | BARWON HEADS HOTEL, MELBOURNE by Alira Fratantaro
A packed house and an electric atmosphere set the scene at Barwon Heads Hotel on Thursday night as Aussie hip hop heavyweights Bliss N Eso brought their Party On The Moon tour to town.
Opening the night was Melbourne rapper Ivan Ooze (Benjamin Townsend), who’s built a solid following since his viral Facebook freestyles back in 2015. Now a seasoned performer, he hit the stage with confidence, delivering a high-energy set that had the crowd moving early. A standout moment came when he invited a couple of punters up on stage to dance along.
Then it was time for Bliss N Eso, the iconic trio made up of emcee’s Bliss and Eso, and DJ Izm. The energy in the venue reached new heights as they took the stage, kicking off a set that blended fresh tracks from their latest album The Moon (The Light Side) with fan favourites from their back catalogue.
Highlights included massive singalongs to ‘Act Your Age‘ and ‘Addicted‘, proving those tracks still hit just as hard as ever. The group’s chemistry and stage presence made it clear why they’ve remained such a staple of the Australian hip hop scene for so long.
Between the new material and nostalgic classics, it was a night that struck a perfect balance for both longtime fans and new faces alike, a reminder of the trio’s undeniable place in Aussie music history.
