PUPPY TEETH ARE WONDERFULLY WEIRD AND WITCHY ON DEBUT EP ‘TEETHING’
EP REVIEW | PUPPY TEETH – TEETHING by Olivia McCallum
The debut EP from Puppy Teeth is made for the weird and witchy girls.
The Edinburgh band fuses Bedroom Pop, Shoegaze and Grunge to create a really interesting sound they call Bubble Grunge. The visuals accompanying the EP I feel, add a whole other layer of complexity to the work and perfectly complement the sound of the EP.
Teething is for me one of the most anticipated releases of 2026. ‘Melatonin‘ was the first single released from this EP, and I have had it on a constant repeat ever since. This was one of the most recent tracks written for the EP and was written within minutes in the middle of the night when lead singer Anna couldn’t sleep. I adore Anna’s silky soft vocals over the ringing distorted guitars.
‘Paranoid‘ perfectly encapsulates the feeling of overthinking absolutely everything and driving yourself crazy doing so, but also the relief and guilt that can come when you realise you were worried over nothing at all. I really love the way Puppy Teeth play about with tone and how the guitars on this track have an almost shoegaze sound to them.
‘Ghosts‘ is a hauntingly beautiful track and one of my favourites from the release. I love the eerie chromatic runs that perfectly contrast the crunchy guitar riffs. It was written about the passing of Anna’s grandparents and what advice she thinks they would give her. This is one of the oldest songs on the EP but has always been a standout of their live set.
‘That Time‘ was the final single to be released ahead of the EP. It explores the idea of time being “stolen” by someone else that could have otherwise been spent investing in one’s own goals and aspirations. It’s a feeling I’m sure most people can relate to and one I felt the band communicated really well through the song. I love how soft it starts off, and then a wave of distortion hits midway through.

I already know this EP will be on repeat all Autumn and Winter for me. I cannot overstate how incredible this work is. I love the haunting witchy vibes that ring throughout the EP, and I am so excited to see what the band does next!!
