SLEAFORD MODS THROWN INTO OFFICIAL CHRISTMAS NO.1 RACE
THE DUO’S COVER OF WEST END GIRLS IS IN AID OF SHELTER UK
Sometimes you’re better off dead
There’s a gun in your hand it’s pointing at your head
You think you’re mad, too unstable
Kicking in chairs and knocking down tables
WEST END GIRLS
Sleaford Mods have officially been thrown into the Official Charts Christmas No.1 race with their charity release cover of Pet Shop Boys classic WEST END GIRLS in aid of homeless charity Shelter.
For the first time in 5 years, sausage roll loving Lad Baby have taken a step back from the running and alternative contenders are competing for the biggest No.1 of the prize of the year. Speaking to the Official Charts, Jason from Sleaford Mods said “A Christmas Number 1 would be up there with a Number 1 album for me”.
But can they edge it over classics such as the late Shane McGowan’s The Pogues and Kirsty McColl’s Fairytale of New York? Perhaps TikToks Creator Universe can turn views into streams in support of The Trussell Trust? Or maybe it’s about time we hand the title over to a more superior species with Nala the Station Cats Check Meowt in aid of RSPCA.
Whoever your money is on, make sure some of that is going to the pockets of the charities supported.
