Emerging from the ever-growing music scene of Wigan, Stanley’s are taking the indie-rock genre by storm – releasing their third EP ‘The Gallery’ to cement their success.

Taking its name from the ‘The Galleries’ – a practice space gifted to the band via Wigan Council, now under demolition – the band have dedicated their EP to the fond memories created in that space no longer there. Speaking on the title, frontman Tom Concannon says ‘The Galleries was our home for many a year, in 2016 onwards. Wigan council were kind enough to give it to us and we’re sad that it’s gone, but we wanted to try and remember it in our latest EP – calling it ‘The Gallery’ for that reason.’ We hold this place dear to us and there’s a lot of memories and a lot of songs written in there, some from this EP, so it’s nice to be able to remember it even though it’s all rubble.’

‘The Gallery’ highlights three of the band’s latest singles, ‘I’ll Try’, ‘She’s Done It Again’ and ‘He Knows’ – all playing a massive part in their live performances and being proven to be big hits with crowds at both headline shows and festival appearances. Whilst ‘I’ll Try’ shines a spotlight on the more indie, up-beat side to Stanleys’ sound, it narrates a story of ‘love, loss, hope and despair’ – accentuating Stanleys’ vast capabilities both lyrically and musically. ‘She’s Done It Again’ takes a darker approach to the typical indie sound and showcases a previously unseen darkness to their music. With anthemic choruses being the true takeaway from this song, it is not one you would like to miss live. Being one of the highlights in their set, ‘She’s Done It Again’ never fails to mesmerise crowds and bring audiences to life.

Furthermore, ‘He Knows’ reincarnates the 90’s sounds of John Squire’s melodies, a hint of the La’s and a sound so great it could be comparable to The Smiths. With a chorus so catchy, you won’t be able to stop singing it after that first initial listen.

After playing some of the biggest shows recently, headlining Manchester’s Academy 2, supporting their hometown-hero Richard Ashcroft and taking to the road with the likes of  The Lathums, The Lottery Winners and Jamie Webster – the argument can be made that the buttery voice of front man Tom Concannon provides the foundations for the success of Stanleys, however without the accompaniment of Rob Hilton (drums), Jake Dorsman (guitar) and Harry Ivory (bass) providing an incredible back-line of instrumental, Stanleys would cease to exist as the incredible North West band they are.

Whilst ‘The Gallery’ contains 3 previously released singles, unheard track ‘Anything’ arguably takes the spotlight as the diamond of this EP. Whilst adhering to the usual indie sound of Stanleys, ‘Anything’ captures a vulnerability to Tom’s narration and Jake’s songwriting like never before. With what could be considered as his best vocal performance yet, the track feels as if it will become both a fan-favourite and one many look back on in years to come, discussing what propelled Stanleys to their success.

Speaking on their EP, guitarist Jake Dorsman says, ‘The Gallery is undoubtedly a culmination of our years together as a band. From the college days beginning as a pub cover act and progressing into performing original material, as well as through the uncertainty of the pandemic and lockdown, all the way to our own headline show at Manchester Academy and having a wealthy catalogue of material. The lyricism and tonality reflects within, and for the first time our ability to look retrospectively at our journey so far. We believe it’s our best work yet and we hope you enjoy it with every listen.’

With a busy autumn install for the Wigan boys taking to the road with the likes of Shed Seven and Cast – Winter will see the band host their biggest hometown headline to date at the iconic ‘Monaca’ in Wigan and take to Zerox in Newcastle to celebrate the release of ‘The Gallery’.

Whilst tickets are quickly flying out for these headline shows, some are still available through Gigs And Tours and partnering ticket sights.

Stanleys’ third EP ‘The Gallery’ is available to stream on all platforms now and further purchase on limited 12” vinyl, signed by the band through Townsend Music.

Stanleys are Tom Concannon (vocals), Jake Dorsman (guitar), Rob Hilton (drums) and Harry Ivory (bass).
