WHERE I WANNA BE: RISING TALENT BEN WALKER LEVELS UP WITH GLASGOW HEADLINE AND DEBUT RECORD
Ben Walker (Hope Simmers)
This week, Scottish rising talent Ben Walker has officially dropped his highly anticipated debut EP, Where I Wanna Be. Released on Friday 30th January, the four-track collection marks a definitive moment for the 22-year-old singer-songwriter, who has rapidly evolved from a lockdown livestreamer to one of Scotland’s most promising live acts.
The EP captures Walker’s signature blend of storytelling and indie-rock energy, yet marks a significant shift for the young Montrose artist. While his early work leaned into his acoustic roots, Where I Wanna Be is his biggest, most anthemic rock moment to date. It pairs soaring guitars with driving percussion while remaining vocally grounded and relatable. With clear nods to artists like Sam Fender and Jake Bugg, the scale of the production is massive and sets lays the framework for bigger things to come.

To mark the release, Ben embarked on his biggest headline show to date in his adopted city of Glasgow. Performing to a packed Garage on the eve of the EP’s launch, he delivered a night that celebrated the journey of a rising star truly hitting his stride. With long queues forming well before doors opened, fans were eager to secure their spot at the barrier from the word go.
The celebrations didn’t end that evening though, since then Ben has taken Where I Wanna Be across Scotland, getting up, close and personal with selected in store performances and signings with Assai Records in Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen. Missed it? You can catch Ben on Thursday 5th February when he returns to Glasgow’s Strip Joint Records. Tickets available HERE.
