YOU’VE BEEN CORDIALLY INVITED TO SEE SEB LOWE IN MANCHESTER!
LIVE REVIEW | SEB LOWE | ACADEMY 2, Manchester | 27th November 2025 by Jenna Laband
Now more than ever, the crossover between the arts and politics is at the top of people’s minds. Particularly in the music industry, where artists are given platforms to share their thoughts and feelings through the melodies people listen to daily, using our voices to spread awareness, educate and criticise is of utmost importance. This is where Seb Lowe comes in.
From his first track, “Terms and Conditions”, Seb was ahead of the game in translating these issues into song. His messaging is clear from the first line, a catchy outward criticism of the UK political climate. This use of song as a social commentary has continued to underscore his discography, landing him where he is today: returning to Manchester for the hometown show of his third headline tour.

After being motivated to write his politically charged tracks since the pandemic, Lowe has found himself a vast social following. From groups of adults to teenagers, the crowds of his shows pay homage to the diverse crowd he has fostered.
Opening the show with “Here Come The Aliens!”, Seb had the audience wrapped around his finger from the get-go. Flowing into “Jump Scare” before the widely loved track “Kill Him (he’s a Socialist)” where Lowe jumped from the stage to sing with fans at the barrier. With his ability to inject a sense of emotion into his performances, whether that may be a comedic tone or that of a more serious anger, he really keeps the audience on their toes in the best way possible.
Next, the second-ever live performance of “I’m Hateful, I’m Horrible, I Love You” and fan-favourite “Dogs & Cats”. The tempo then slowed down a notch with the performance of “Freak.” Whilst this track may be slower than the rest, it still manages to pack the same emotional punch, particularly when hearing it live. Seb then noticed a fan’s sign at the front asking him to play “Love Bomb”, adding this to the setlist, which the whole crowd loved.

Of course, we can’t talk about a Seb Lowe concert without bringing attention to his incredible band. Whilst Seb Lowe originally began as a solo artist, his unique band adds a whole new dimension to his music. With Kate Couriel on violin and Joel Goodwin on drums, the performance was escalated to a new level. As Seb introduced the band, Kate then encouraged the crowd to give an extra round of applause for Joel, who had bleached his hair just before walking out onstage.

The mention of the next song, “Mr and Mrs Human Race”, was then met with huge cheers, with a feature duet from Seb and Kate, sharing a mic between them. With Seb then encouraged fans to sing along to “Ode to Britannia”, and they did not disappoint. Closing the night with a performance of his top track “Terms and Conditions,” he returned to the barrier to interact and sing along with the crowd one last time.
It’s safe to say the energy in the room that night was completely unmatched, with the unification of such a diverse fanbase truly being something to behold.
