SINGLE REVIEW | IWANTTOBEONTV – SNAKE EYES by Morgan Hermiston

If you’ve ever wondered what The Prodigy would sound like with Charli xcx‘s vocals, then get to know iwanttobeonTV. Releasing their debut track, ‘Snake Eyes‘, the Scottish duo create a genre of their own through shared musical preferences and perceptions. Both bring expertise from other projects and bands, with Scott Bathgate drawing experience from musical projects including Lo Rays, and Maddie Cassidy extending her vocal and song-writing abilities from Sister Madds.

Combining an amalgamation of aspects from punk, rock and electronic music, iwanttobeonTV instigate an instantly identifiable sound of their own. Their punk-fuelled persona is one that pushes and perpetuates societal issues that many people will resonate with and feel strongly about. Things like capitalism and technological turmoil are subjects raised in both this dynamic debut track, and a range of releases promised over the year ahead. Expect a rebel-rousing recording, with auto-tuned vocals that only enhance and emphasise their lyrics.

The duo have found a niche with ‘Snake Eyes‘ that other bands have missed, and their genre-combining style fills this space with an exciting, new, and an unforgettably unique, sound. If that isn’t enough to spark your curiosity into the duo, their musical accolades are starting early. Underground Sounds named ‘Snake Eyes‘ as their ‘Track of the Week‘, and BBC Music Introducing have recognised and played the tune too.

Snake Eyes‘ is an atmospheric track that will sound immense in a packed out room. Having already played Glasgow’s King Tut’s as part of the venue’s Summer Night series, supporting Mercy Girl, iwanttobeonTV are quickly adopting a fanbase excited to scream along with them. Their very own headline show is yet to be announced, but keep an eye on their Instagram for the first news on this.
