Scouse singer-songwriter Dylan Robert releases third single ‘Broken by Design‘. Following in the footsteps of his previous, and most popular track to date, ‘Floodlights‘, Dylan’s latest song aims to create as much impact and atmosphere as possible.

Named after Bob Dylan, it’s as though Dylan’s destiny has been set out for him. With his latest track including what has been described as a “romantically brutal story“, he utilises methodical messaging amongst mesmerising melodies. Dylan’s debut single ‘Psychos‘ was an acoustic song, a ballad with heartfelt and honest notions. Honesty is something he incorporates intricately, with ‘Broken by Design‘ having the lyrical undertones of being with a loved one, and standing by them.

The captivating chorus is instantly memorable and his vibrantly clear vocals are stunning to listen to. The idea provided in the chorus of someone being “broken by design” is just as purposeful as the notion he intends. It seems to surround someone feeling like they need someone to fix them, or us needing someone to help and to mend.

Accompanying the message is a melodic fusion of “Cobain-esque” and bigger guitar work alongside driving and dynamic drumming. This amalgamation of anthemic elements maintains the impactful punchiness that ‘Broken by Design‘ has as a foundation.

It’s clear that Dylan Robert knows the direction of where he wants his discography to go, with ‘Broken by Design‘ being the latest of his singles to further prove this. Having recently played at the Isle of Wight Festival, Dylan’s audience is growing with every show he plays.
