NORTHERN EXPOSURE LIVE: NEW MUSIC SHOWCASE COMING TO GLASGOW
For the first time ever, Northern Exposure will be going live in Glasgow!
In partnership with local grassroots promoter B12 Entertainment, Northern Exposure are delighted to announce their first ever live show north of the border when they take over Glasgow’s Classic Grand on Friday 17th October.
The line-up – personally curated by Northern Exposure – features some of the best local talent that Glasgow has to offer with Julia’s Bureau, Day Drunk, Medb and Aim For Two, all calling your attention on the night.
Julia’s Bureau

Glasgow made Julia’s Bureau was an easy choice for our first Scottish line-up. Having first encountered the band back when they released their debut single in early 2023, it was a delight to see them back in action this year. Named after a Victorian-era spiritualist newspaper, Julia’s Bureau are Euan Davidson (Wendell Borton), Tom Gilbert (Amanti/Wendell Borton/LENIN DEATH MASK), Thomas Emslie (T_A_M, Erskine Lynds) and Gavin Murray (Pre-Teens).
With jangly nods to bands such as Television, Sebadoh, The Breeders and Teenage Fanclub, the band take several disparate and clashing influences to craft a brand of indie-rock with deep rooted melodies, nostalgia and surrealism, all with hook laden pop sensibilities which fit snugly into the alt-rock landscape.

Day Drunk

Where have Day Drunk been all my life! Well, at least the past 2 years. Not sure how I missed the hype for this band, but since dropping on my radar earlier this year, I knew they had to be part of our first Glasgow showcase. Blending gritty punk energy with introspective melodies, the rising trio – made up of singer/guitarist Leah Batty, lead guitarist Callum Gibbs and drummer Aaron Wares – have already garnered nearly 20,000 streams on Spotify alone since releasing their debut single in 2023.
Praised by BBC Scotland Introducing for their “laid-back melancholy punk appeal” Day Drunk have electrified stages like King Tut’s and SWG3 with raw, high-energy performances. With a growing fan base and new music on the horizon, Day Drunk is quickly carving out their place on Scotland’s thriving alternative scene. For fans of emo leaning bands such as Paramore or American Football with the punkier pop edge of the likes of Hot Mulligan or Jimmy Eat World, Day Drunk bring all of that with a naturally Scottish flair.

medb

As soon as medb dropped my way, I knew instantly that I NEEDED this girl on our line-up. Born in Canada under the sign of Taurus, and raised by two singer-songwriters in post-conflict Northern Ireland, medb cut her teeth on tumblr bedroom pop to emerge as the multi-faceted creative powerhouse we all are ready to know and love.
After an exciting period performing across London and a year dedicated to recording her third album, Hercules! in Belfast, medb has nown settled into Glasgow. There, she has teamed up with a fantastic new live band featuring fellow Irish native “Nasty” Nico Ndlovu and local cowboy “Jumping” Jack Faulds of Junk Pups fame on bass.
With a self confessed personality combining Edie Sedgwick, the Virgin Mary and Kylie Jenner, medb‘s characteristic, nostalgia driven sound has been likened to the likes of Tess Parks, Suzanne Vega and Alvvays. You’ll know you’re listening to medb when an indescribable pang of nostalgia takes over your soul and renders your thoughts to dreams. We can’t wait to see her on the stage.

Aim For Two

Keeping the high energy flowing through the evening will be locals Aim For Two. The hard rock band from Dumbarton, just outside Glasgow, met through their mutual love of music at school.
Brought together by lead vocalist Rory Galloway, brothers Mitchell and Lochlann Doleman on lead guitar and bass respectively and drummer John Thomson, Aim For Two have been soaring since their first live appearance in 2023. From the get go, this group have been tight, mirroring a level of experience associated with bands who have been performing together for years.
Taking With Rory’s raspy, Paolo Nutini-style voice, John’s natural feel on drums, and the Doleman twins’ chemistry, Aim For Two are ones to watch.
