PASTEL IN DARKNESS: INDIE STAPLES RETURN TO THE “BEST CITY”

Last week, Manchester/Swansea indie-rock staples Pastel returned to Glasgow with a packed out performance at the city’s Art School. Following the release of their 2025 album Souls in Motion, the band are currently on their ‘a little bit of love’ tour. They wasted no time winning over the room, officially crowning Glasgow as the “best city for a gig”, and the room wholeheartedly agreed.
The night took an unexpected turn when the stage lights cut out completely mid-set, but the band didn’t skip a beat. They laughed off the technical glitch and powered through the darkness, much to the delight of the roaring crowd. Between songs, they took a moment to praise Callum, their new sound tech, who stepped in at the last minute following some “unexplained drama” with their previous crew member.
What stood out most was the band’s genuine connection with their audience. After the final note, they stayed late to sign posters, setlists, and t-shirts, proving that despite their rising fame, they remain incredibly grounded. It was a high-energy, intimate night that proved Pastel is a band that truly delivers, lights or no lights.
The ‘a little bit of love’ tour continues this month with dates in Brighton, Southampton and a Swansea homecoming. Remaining tickets can be found here.
