American rockers Primus brought their unique blend of metal and funk to the Barrowland Ballroom for the first time since 1991 when they played the famous venue with Jane’s Addiction. There had been promise of a Glasgow show back in 2022, but due to unforeseen logistical challenges, it was cancelled. So, this gig felt long overdue to the sold out crowd queuing along the Gallowgate as they waited patiently for the doors to be opened.

Judging by the wild audience reaction when Les Claypool (vocals/bass), Larry “Ler” LaLonde (guitarist) and John Hoffman (drums) took to the stage, it was well worth the wait!

It was a night of fan favourites, including ‘Too Many Puppies‘ and ‘Jerry Was a Race Car Driver‘, as well as newer material such as ‘The Ol’ Grizz‘ from their latest EP, A Handful of Nuggs. The band ended the evening on a high with ‘Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver’, much to the crowd’s delight.

After experiencing two hours of the unconventional musical genius that is Les, Ler and John, I can confirm that PRIMUS does indeed, SUCK! (IYKYK)
