Thusday night in Lincoln was not one to miss as Rick Astley brought a combination of nostalgia, humour and undeniable showmanship to Live at Lincoln Castle.
Despite the soaring temperatures, the Lincolnshire crowd didn’t give up and Astley certainly didn’t let them down.
Every mention of the 1980s was met with a cheer from the crowd. Astley’s charm and wit shone through between songs with crowd interactions and stories from his career, joking ‘By the end of the 80s, I’m kind of a big deal’
The set blended classic hits with unexpected surprises as Astley swapped the microphone for the drum kit covering RAYE’s “Where is my husband?”, showcasing his versatility as a musician. Later in the set, he covered Roy Orbison’s “Oh, Pretty Woman”, keeping the performance fresh while still delivering the nostalgia fans came for.
Cow Bells, Sax Solos Drum interludes and on stage cocktails, the night had it all.
As the evening drew to a close, it was clear the audience had loved every moment. Between the humour, musicianship and timeless songs, Astley proved that his performances are a masterclass in entertainment after almost 4 decades.

Live at Lincoln Castle continues this weekend with performances from Deacon Blue, Bowling For Soup and David Gray.
