Last night at Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom, The Last Dinner Party delivered a striking performance and nothing short of cinematic glory. Playing to a fiercely devoted, suitably well dressed crowd, the London-based quintet continue to cement themselves as one of the UK’s most thrilling new rock bands.

The show was part of a huge headline tour to support their second album, From The Pyre, released just last month and the set list reflected that with latest singles ‘The Scythe’, ‘Second Best’ and the penultimate track of the night, ‘This Is The Killer Speaking’ all raising the iconic Barrowland ceiling. Yet the most erruptive, sing-a-long moments of the evening came from their chart topping debut Prelude To Esctasy with ‘Sinner’ ‘My Lady Of Mercy’ and of course, ‘Nothing Matters’, producing a spine-tingling chorus from the fans.

The show concluded in a fitting manner, as The Last Dinner Party came full circle with a reprisal of their opening number, the powerful ‘Agnus Dei’, during the encore. While it may be an overused cliche, this thrilling group transcends the typical concert experience; they embody the essence of what rock music is capable of today, proving that theatricality remains vibrant and relevant element of live music – all while looking divinely bad-ass doing so.

The Pyre Tour will continue across the UK over the next few weeks with last remaining tickets on sale here.
