White spotlights shine onto a small stool in the middle of the stage on which sits a tiny tortoise, a microphone pointed at it. Nessun Dorma plays, we’re being serenaded with opera in a church sung by a reptile…and out come Australia’s Psychedelic Porn Crumpets guitars held high in the air, the crowd went nuts.
We think that pretty much sums it all up.
Perth psych rock band Psychedelic Porn Crumpets brought their 8th studio album Pogo Rodeo to Manchester’s Albert Hall on a Friday night in the midst of the city celebrating hosting the Brit Awards. Olivia Dean played the Albert Hall the night before with Deansgate train station changing all it’s signs to Olivia Deansgate. Foo Fighters were playing an ‘intimate’ show at the O2 Ritz not far away this very same night.
Tonight at the Albert Hall we get a break from all the pop and dive straight into some fine psych with added grungy heavy riffs with a set list spanning their career.
Support came from Bristol noisemakers Waldo’s Gift and Manchester’s Martial Arts.
