ELEPHANT KIND TEASE THEIR UPCOMING TOUR WITH NEW LIVE EP
REVIEW | THE INDONESIAN TRIO HAVE RELEASED THE 4 TRACK LIVE IN LONDON VIA MOLA RECORDS
As long as people want to dance then disco will never be dead. Just ask alternative disco pop trio Elephant Kind who are injecting fresh life into the ever popular scene. Having recently relocated 7000 miles across the world from Indonesia, Elephant Kind now call London home. In their recent documentary ‘From Indo to England’ lead singer Bam Mastro says,
Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would move to London…this opportunity feels like I earned it

This week the Indonesian trio have released their latest offering in the form of a four track EP entitled Live In London. Released in anticipation of their debut UK tour, there’s a real buzz around the band as they continue to grow.
The first track is the instantaneously catchy Follow Through. Follow Through locks in a Bee Gee’s style essence. The chord progression which builds within the verses is nostalgically familiar and it’s fair to say that the songs chorus will live rent free in your head for weeks.
Next is another new song for Elephant Kind with synth heavy dance anthem It Meant Nothing. Capturing the disco energy flawlessly, It Meant Nothing really shows off the bands musical abilities. The funky bass line against the falsetto vocals works very well.
From the first few bars Love As transports the listen to synth dream dimension. The melody sounds vaguely familiar but I can’t quite put my finger on it. Never a negative attribute, if anything it makes the song appeal to a wider audience. More ballad than boogie, Love As still manages to maintain the feel good energy Elephant Kind deliver best.
The concluding Scenario II is probably the most natively inspired track of the EP. Taking their well established disco energy and curating a delightful ethnical fusion that everybody can move their hips to.
In comparison to some of Elephant Kind’s previous releases, Live in London really captures the bands personality and live presence. The trio sound like they are really enjoying themselves and are embracing this new opportunity to the fullest.
Newly signed to Mola Records, the enthusiasm has only strengthened as they start to leave an impression in their adopted country. Heading out on a 5 date tour next week, Elephant Kind will hit Birmingham, Bristol, Sheffield, Manchester and finish off back in London. It might not be the festival sized crowds and millions of streams they have become accustomed to back ‘home’ but this is a brand new scene to crack. There’s a definite gap in the mainstream market for a band like Elephant Kind and I personally look forward to following their journey.
