LIVE AT LEEDS 2025: EMERGING TALENT AND ICONS COME TO PLAY IN THE PARK
Live at Leeds is back in the park this year for an electric May Bank Holiday (24th). The festival has delighted West Yorkshire with previous acts like the 1975, Sam Fender and the Kooks. The event may only be a day long, but each year the organisers fit more and more in to make it a more mighty, more insane day of pure tune bliss.
It’s a celebration of the UK’s fave indie/rock heroes and this year, London legends Bloc Party are headlining to commemorate 20 years (yep that’s right, two decades) of classic record Silent Alarm. The album won the NME ‘Best Album’ award in 2005 and 20 years on, Bloc Party are bringing hits like ‘Banquet’, ‘This Modern Love’ and ‘Like Eating Glass’ to Leeds’ Temple Newsam Park.
Iconic Welsh trio Manic Street Preachers were recently announced as very special guests of the event. The line up news comes ahead of the bands new album Critical Thinking which is set for release on the 14th February. As well as some classic bands, the line up is filled with bunches of upcoming artists who are shaking up the music scene. Leeds band Yard Act absolutely sky rocketed last year, with insane sets at multiple festivals including Glastonbury and a show stealing highlight of Tramlines in Sheffield.
My fellow indie heads will be happy to see Jamie Webster, The Snuts, The Amazons and The Pigeon Detectives on the ballot, the latter playing a special ‘hometown best of’ show on the day. We’ve also got some names that have been making waves recently like Chloe Slater and James Marriott, alongside some masters of the festival set like Natasha Beddingfield, Sigrid and Sports Team.
Live at Leeds this year has more talented names than I can fit in here, including the very intriguing and incredibly named Psychedelic Porn Crumpets from ‘down under’ in Perth.
This is also without mentioning the comedy tent and other events like Barrioke (if you know you know). We have been treated to a melting pot of indie classics, rock icons and a taste of new sounds and I can’t wait to see what performances artists will bring to us this time round.
