In Motion by Paparazzi is a glamorous celebration of synth pop. It’s everything and more you could want from a modern Scottish synth pop release mixing a love for 80s nostalgia with a helping of modern indie pop rock.

One of my first listens of the new EP was on a slightly tipsy walk home from King Tuts. It made me feel like the fabulous main character in a dreamy 80s movie. The EP drowned out the noise of the busy streets until it felt as though it was just me and my street lamp spotlight. It’s the ideal soundtrack for cool Summer nights spent dancing through the streets, stepping with the beat of the drums.

The five-piece band are West Coast of Scotland born and raised and have been playing together since their teen years. This EP is a milestone achievement for them and it’s so exciting for this work to finally be out.

The EP opens with ‘Relapse and Relief’ which perfectly introduces the key melodic themes of the release. ‘Glam Shot’, the band’s debut single is a total earworm. The entire EP is so easily danceable.

The track ‘Superstitions for Fools’ was released ahead of the EP earlier this year and was an instant classic in my eyes. I knew from my first listen that this EP would be outstanding.

‘Drowning’ is five minutes and fourteen seconds of utter glistening synth pop perfection. It feels like freedom and brings the EP to a perfect close.

Paparazzi so easily blend your classic synth pop sounds from the 80s with more modern inspiration to create a truly soul-filled work. In Motion is so full of personality and I believe you can tell simply by listening just how long the band have spent playing together and refining their sound into something that is truly themselves.
